Sibsagar the Ocean of Lord Shiva, is a town in the Sibsagar district in the state of Assam in India, about 360 kilometers (224 mi) north east of Guwahati. Apart from its history, culture, and tanks, it is also famous for its Ahom Palaces and Monuments. The ONGC plant is close to the site. ONGC was approached to sponsor the renovation and maintenance of the Ahom monuments [Ronghar, Karanghar (GarhGaon), Talatalghar (Joy Sagar), Group of Maidams at Cheraideo located in Shiv Sagar district of Assam. The project shall be called ‘Amula Dharohar’.
